Year of the Normans
2016 marks the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. English Heritage is marking the anniversary of the Norman Conquest with an exciting programme of activities throughout the year. To support this programme, we were asked to develop a creative solution for the membership suite that would inspire and inform members. The theme was 1066: Year of the Normans.
We explored strong, simple concepts that would appeal to the broad audience and could be used as part of a wider campaign throughout the year. Bringing history to life, we used illustration to depict a battle scene across the hilltop at Battle Abbey, with a ghost like presence of a Norman soldier cast in the shadow across the historic landscape. Our creative solution inspires and engages with visitors, encouraging and promoting membership.
