A brand refresh and campaigns for the largest boarding school in the UK put real stories of students at the heart and united departments within one strong visual identity, helping grow pupil numbers by 7% and increase open-day bookings by 62%.
The research for Millfield showed that many independent schools take a similar approach. Happy boys and girls pictured walking outside are typical. Real children are, of course, much more surprising, and for this already successful school that was well-known for its sporting achievements, the less-told story was how their students were just as passionate about their arts and academic learning. The ‘core truth’ was that Millfield wasn’t just for those familiar with the sports field, it catered for ‘every field’. The national advertising campaign worked incredibly well, with stories of specific children featured on a specially created micro-site.

Coat of Arms
We carefully modernised the coat of arms and developed the identity, bringing departments together with consistency across all materials from the signage to the yearbooks. The comprehensive guidelines and templates provided huge efficiencies and time savings and saved £1000’s on printing.
